Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
Her legacy
Maria's Well
With some of the money that was raised following Maria's loss, we have purchased a Water Well in Nepal.  This Well will provide clean water to a number of villagers and will also provide health education to villagers - this will hopefully save hundreds of lives in the future.

You can see a picture of Maria's Well in a photo album.  Just click on the album and then click on the photo - you can see Maria's name on a plaque on the site of the well.

The well is registered in the name of Archbishop Grimshaw School.  It had been suggested that the school do something to help a Third World Country in Maria's name.  Hopefully this is the start of a project for them.

The funding of the well also includes a complete hygiene, training, maintenance and health package which is set up for the close inhabitants of the well in an attempt to improve their quality of health and life expectancy.
Maria's Charity
Maria was diagnosed with Leukaemia on 16th June 2005.  This cruel illness took her life away from her on 9th July 2005.

It is for this reason that we decided to set up Maria's charity as a lasting memorial to her and her wonderful life.  The Charity aims to:-

Raise Awareness of Leukaemia in Teenagers and Young Adults - this devastating illness is increasing and people need to know that it is claiming so many young lives.

Help Teenagers - the Charity has provided an online Teenage Cancer Forum for use by Teenagers and Young Adults to share their experiences, worries and concerns - to offer advice to each other.  The charity is also supporting the development of a new Teenage Cancer Unit at Birmingham Childrens Hospital.  This unit will provide specialist treatment in a cleaner, safer, teenager friendly environment.

Provide Research - the Charity will be funding research into the causes of Leukaemia in Teenagers and Young Adults - there is a reason why so many young people are getting this illness and we need to find out why.
